In a recent episode of Tere Gully Mein, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, took a tour of the beautiful city, Bhopal, with stand-up comedian Kullu. He is wholeheartedly a true Bhopali and took Kamiya to some legendary restaurants and cafes in Bhopal. Over a wholesome plate of Chole Paneer Bhature, Kullu shared about Bhopal’s culture, its welcoming people and even shared how the historical women who ruled Bhopal have left a lasting impact on the city. Read on to know more about it.

Kullu Speaks About The Women’s Rule In Bhopal

Over the centuries, Bhopal was ruled by four Begums — Kudsia Begum, Sikandar Begum, Shah Jahan Begum, and Sultan Jahan Begum. These female rulers left a lasting impact on the city, and Kullu shared how their legacy is still relevant today. When Kamiya asked, “Do women still rule everywhere in Bhopal?” He replied, “Of course, that culture has impacted Bhopal a lot. Women ruled us for four generations, and it has given a little sense of women’s empowerment psychologically.”

He believes that the women of Bhopal are truly strong and are now the ones running households. Women are becoming the new alpha, standing next to men with every quality, including skills like driving. He added that women are not only driving cars but also jeeps, which are quite popular in Bhopal.

For Him, His Mom Is His Hero

In tune with praising the women of Bhopal, Kullu shared how his mom is his ideal and considers her his hero. His mom has been a successful CID officer for more than 35 years, and her journey has influenced him in every possible way. He said, “My mom is still my hero. Unki jo intrapersonal skills hain, agar uski 10% bhi mere andar hoti, toh aaj I would have been more successful.”

He loves the way his mother makes everyone feel comfortable while speaking to them. He cutely recalled how his mom often calls him whenever she is out of the house and meets Kullu’s fans. She always calls and says, “Yaar tum batate nahi ho ye wo, hum bina tayar hoke nikal jate hain. Ab hum tayar hoke nikla karenge ghar se.” Truly, moms are special, and for Kullu, she has been and will always be his inspirational figure.

He even shared how his international trip to Dubai with his mother went. Want to know the full story? Watch the full episode.
