The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation or the MTDC has provided a 50 per cent discount for female visitors staying at its resorts. This is being done to celebrate International Women’s Day, which is on March 8 of each year. This offer by the MTDC is also a bid to promote gender equality when it comes to travelling. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this amazing offer.
MTDC Offers 50% Women’s Day Discount At Resorts

According to an article that was recently published by The Times Of India or TOI, the discount will be available around the state from March 1 to March 8, 2025. This is done in an effort to encourage gender-inclusive travel. The project is a component of the “Aai” women-centric tourism policy.
This particular policy seeks to promote increased female involvement in the travel industry while guaranteeing accessible and safe travel. The success of the program last year benefited over 1,500 women. This fact was emphasised by Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai.
Encouraged by the favourable reaction, the government has increased the discount to 30 days for the entire year. The additional 22 days will be marked on the official MTDC website. Bookings for the discounted stays open on 1st March through the MTDC website.
Other Important Details To Know About The Offer
In an expansion of the programme, MTDC will offer the same 50% discount on 22 additional days throughout the year, bringing the total to 30 discounted days annually. The complete schedule of these dates will be published on the MTDC’s official website.
Atul Patne, Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department, emphasised that the policy extends beyond financial incentives: “Creating secure spaces for women and offering them opportunities in the tourism sector is a key focus under the ‘Aai’ policy.”
MTDC Managing Director Manojkumar Suryawanshi expressed optimism about the response, particularly noting the advantage of International Women’s Day falling on a public holiday. “This initiative allows women to explore Maharashtra’s diverse landscapes while enjoying significant savings,” he explained.
