ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup has started today. All the participating teams arrived in India a few days back to compete and move towards their goal; winning the trophy. The marquee tournament began with an intense clash between the finalists of the 2019 World Cup; England and New Zealand. Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is hosting the first match. Cricket fans began watching the match with excitement and enthusiasm but the empty seats are making everyone disappointed.
World Cup Begins With An Almost Empty Stadium
Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Nitin Shukla 🇮🇳 (@NitinShuklaIND) shared a glimpse of the ongoing match.

The venue of the first match of the season is the world-renowned stadium in Ahmedabad. Narendra Modi Stadium is known for being the largest stadium in the world and it has a seating capacity of 1,32,000 spectators. In between all the wait, excitement, anticipation, and buzz about the first match of the World Cup, the reality is hitting on a different level. In a stadium with a capacity of more than 1.32 lakh audience, lines of seats are simply empty with a very small number of audience in the stadium.
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag took to the X (formerly Twitter) platform to talk about the striking empty seats in the first match of the World Cup. He hopes that there should be more spectators coming in after office hours. Today’s match is not being played by the Indian team. And for such matches between foreign countries, the cricketer suggested an idea to attract more fans to the stadium. He suggested giving away free tickets for school and college children. It can be a great option for youngsters to enjoy such incredible matches for free and enjoy a remarkable experience.
Hopefully after office hours, there should be more people coming in. But for games not featuring Bharat, there should be free tickets for school and college children. With the fading interest in 50 over game, it will definitely help that youngsters get to experience a World Cup…

This Is How Netizens Are Reacting Seeing The Number Of Fans At Narendra Modi Stadium
The most shocking fact is that the tickets for England vs New Zealand were completely sold out on BookMyShow. Not just this, 40,000 match tickets have been given to the women of the Gujarat city for free. Even after all these things, the empty Narendra Modi Stadium is coming as a major shock to every cricket fan.
Netizens are criticising seeing the present condition at the venue stadium.
