According to Hindustan Times, WR authorities are undertaking a major 35-hour rail block between Kandivali and Borivali stations due to some re-girdering work of a bridge between the two stations. This block will begin at 1 PM on April 26 and will continue till midnight of April 28. Authorities will carry out the re-girdering of Bridge No 61, located between the two stations.

This extensive engineering project will include replacing girders over the 5th line, the Kandivali Carshed line, and the Yard line on the eastern side of the track. The work is part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades designed to boost the rail network’s capacity and support increased train traffic in the future.

WR officials have stated that the re-girdering work is essential for the planned expansion of rail lines, which will ultimately enable increased train traffic along this heavily used suburban corridor.

As per the official statement released by WR, 73 services have been cancelled on April 26, and 90 more on April 27.

It’s important to note that while the 5th line will be impacted, the main Slow and Fast lines will continue to operate as usual. During the block period, Mail and Express trains that typically use the 5th line will be rerouted to the Fast lines. However, the disruption won’t be limited to suburban services—four long-distance trains will also undergo operational changes, with some terminating early or originating from alternative stations like Bhayandar and Vasai instead of their regular terminals.
