X User Slam Trendy Places In Bengaluru & Calls Them Overhyped
Most trendy places in Bangalore are
*Expensive*
*Overhyped*
*Generic zero personality ambience*
*Terrible service*
Went to this place last night called Roxie. Couldn’t roll my eyes more if I tried while writing this one
-UX of their menu app sucks so bad
-Waiters are clueless af pic.twitter.com/hIGIwmcpnr— Sahana (@sahana_srik) July 22, 2024
Bengaluru-based X (formerly Twitter) user, @sahana_srik, is not happy with the “trendy places in Bengaluru.” According to her tweet, all of these places are “expensive, overhyped,” have “generic zero personality ambience,” and have “terrible service.” These tweets came after she visited Roxie, a popular eatery in Bengaluru, with her friends recently.
-Wasn’t even served water until asked
– No kids menu and waiters don’t seem to get custom requests for the baby we had in the group
– Only one high chair in that entire place
– The soup was served at room temp
– They forgot to place one of our orders— Sahana (@sahana_srik) July 22, 2024
Right from the non-functioning menu app to the average quality of food, she talked about it all in her post. She mentioned that they were served room-temperature soup and were especially shocked by the exorbitant food prices there. She even highlighted how the place wasn’t kid-friendly and had only one high chair.
– Ridiculous prices for some menu items (almost 400 bucks for Palak patta chat, bruh what?)
– Food was average, nothing to write home about
– Food on their menu vs what they actually served (pasta especially) pic.twitter.com/NnYIsal3UB— Sahana (@sahana_srik) July 22, 2024
Summarising her experience, she said, “I’m so tired of these random tasteless spineless restaurants popping up all over Bangalore that have gigantic menus and boring decor that caters to everybody and nobody and they have crazy reservations but they can’t get the basics right. Safe to say I won’t be coming back.”

100%. Was probably good in the first month or two of opening. Terrible now.

Don’t go by the trend is the answer

all the new places in blr look taste and feel the same. depressing
— sarthak (@champagnechetta) July 22, 2024
And their rating on Zomato would be 4.5/5 !!! Its all facade at this point
— Smrth (@sam_shukla7) July 22, 2024
Just replace the QR codes with actual hard copy menus like the times of old 😒 and I will be a bit more happier at these places.

going anywhere in Bangalore during weekend sucks, crowd is huge and you get crap service/food.
— Shailesh Kumar (@sh4il3shkr) July 22, 2024
Everything tastes the same nowadays tbh. It’s also probably peak hour rush. We only go out during non-peak hours, even for movies. Non-peak you get great service + food + less noise. And if it’s too famous, it’s definitely shit! Roxie was great last year, not sure anymore.
— Vortoix (@Vortoix) July 22, 2024
Everything is on point. Their menu app is basically the same as used by 50 other restaurants here in BLR. Annoying to use and navigate through.
— Abhishek (@abhishekr2502) July 22, 2024
People just see the ambience and are desperate to walk-in most times. That’s the problem. The hype gets created & then everyone wants to jump on the wagon.
Then there are places where the ambience may not be good but the food maybe great and people will be like no thanks!!
— Sharan Gaba (@GabaSharan) July 22, 2024
Mumbai. Same.
Instagram and influencers are to blame. They hype aesthetics over food.
— The Indian Advisor (@advisor_indian) July 22, 2024
Last month I was at Roxie, and the cocktail I ordered had a dead fly. Terrible take on the Korean cheese burn and undercooked chicken( some Japanese style)
— Himanshu Khanduja (@HimanshuuuuK) July 22, 2024
Hard agree! Wife and I have stopped going to these so called trendy places now.
Most of them have no personality when it comes to decor or food, everything seems so Gurgaon-ish.
— Rony Dutta (@RonyDutta) July 23, 2024
Agree! Roxie is highly overrated. So are the many pubs and microbreweries in the Marathahalli – Bellandur-Sarjapur stretch.
— Swati Suramya (@SwatiSuramya) July 22, 2024
Some people even shared places they like to hang out at instead of trying new ones.
Agree. Big money coming in to the sector and they can just try to replicate successful places. I think twice before visiting any new ones.
I’ve frequented to URU, JP Nagar and the experience has been good so far.

Bob’s is good
— Gorkhascholar (@MathiFryy) July 22, 2024
Do not agree. Roxie is a very new place may not be a very good place.
