X User Slams Zomato Not Providing Refund After Order Cancellation; Zomato Clears Confusion

Do you often order food on online delivery platforms such as Zomato? If yes, you must keep yourself updated with all the rules and protocols of these apps to have a better experience of ordering and dining at home. Recently, a man ordered ice cream from Zomato and cancelled it later. Following the cancellation on Zomato app, he did not receive a refund. Here’s why.

Customer Complained About Not Receiving A Refund From Zomato After Order Cancellation

Taking to the X platform, Lil Miss Attitude Official (@MelissaIndia16) shared her friend’s experience of ordering a dessert from this food delivery app on Thursday night.

According to the information on this X post, Bhupendra placed an order for Kwality Wall’s Ice Cream at 10:15 PM on August 1. The customer’s dessert order for his child was cancelled later. Though the customer cancelled it on the Zomato app, the delivery agent still headed to the shop to pick up the delivery. Even after cancelling the ice cream order, the customer did not receive any refund.

Though it has been quite some time since he cancelled his ice cream order last night, there have been no updates on the refunded amount till now. Demanding answers from the food delivery platform, X user Lil Miss Attitude Official (@MelissaIndia16) called Zomato a fraud.

The user shared a series of screenshots showing the customer’s conversation with Zomato Interactive Assistant (ZIA). According to the attached images, Zomato cancelled the ice cream order as requested and deducted a cancellation charge of ₹369.08 since the company needs to compensate its partners for this.

Why Didn’t The Customer Get A Refund?

In a conversation with support executive Navanagiri, Bhupendra raised a question about deducting such a high cancellation charge. The executive responded that as the customer himself cancelled the order, it was cancelled and the amount was deducted as the cancellation fee. According to the screenshot, the Zomato app mentions that the amount will be cut as a cancellation fee in case of any order cancellation.
