As we inch toward the end of yet another year, here are the most-searched travel destinations by Indians in 2023.
Google’s Year In Search 2023 Report
One of the things that Indians are increasingly passionate about is travel. Whether it was for business, pleasure or for any other reason, it is safe to say that Indians have travelled a lot this year, both within the country and outside it. This spike in travel seemed even more drastic after the three-year lull caused by the coronavirus pandemic across the globe which crippled the travel industry.
While there are many countries and regions that are still reeling from the pandemic, some have managed to bounce back just fine. Google has released a ‘Year In Search 2023’ report in which it highlighted the most-searched topics in various subjects and regions. For India, the most-searched travel destinations reveal that Asian countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and Sri Lanka captured the attention of Indians the most.
Within the country, evergreen destinations like Goa, Kashmir and Coorg made it to the list. These destinations, Goa especially, have a chokehold on the country and the obsession was consistent throughout 2023 as well! Italy and Switzerland turned out to be the most searched non-Asian countries which piqued the interest of Indians as potential travel destinations.

These were the top 10 most-searched travel destinations by Indians as per the ‘Year In Search 2023’ report by Google:
1. Vietnam
2. Goa, India
3. Bali, Indonesia
4. Sri Lanka
5. Thailand
6. Kashmir
7. Coorg, Karnataka
8. Andaman and Nicobar Islands
9. Italy
10. Switzerland
Another insight that can be gleaned from the list above is that, be it an international or domestic travel destination, Indians have a penchant for beachy destinations. This is obvious from the fact that destinations like Vietnam, Thailand, Italy, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa and Bali are on the list.
The fact that Thailand and Sri Lanka recently scrapped visas as requirements for Indian passport holders might have also helped in making these countries an attractive travel destination for the people of the country. It is safe to say that, for Indians, 2023 was filled with travel adventures.
