With the monsoon here, the mountains in northern India are certainly receiving a lot of rainfall making it quite dangerous not just for travellers and tourists, but for locals alike. And now, the weather office has predicted more rain showers for the coming days. Yes, a yellow alert has been sounded for heavy rains for 10 out of 12 districts in Himachal Pradesh. This comes after a cloudburst in Rampur and we are here to tell you all about this weather-related development in Himachal Pradesh.

According to a report by Hindustan Time, it was mentioned that the Indian metrological department has issued flash flood alerts for four districts of Himachal Pradesh. This includes Kangra, Siramaur, Chamba, and Shimla as rains continue to lash in several parts of the state. The office has also mentioned that the showers will continue for the coming days and that surface run-off or inundation may also occur in fully saturated soils and low-lying areas. It’s worth mentioning that these conditions may prevail till August 22. As a result, Yellow Alert has been founded for several districts of the state.

Cloudburst In Rampur

With heavy to moderate rains occurring in many places of the state, there was a cloudburst in the Takloch area of the Rampur subdivision, which falls in the Shimla district. This happened late on Friday and damaged a 30 m stretch of the road. However, there have been no reports of casualty, as revealed by Economic Times. In fact, National Highway 5 has been blocked and Kinnaur District has been cut off from Shimla. It’s worth mentioning that the national Highway 707, which is between Hatkoti in Shimla and Poanta Sahib in Sirmaur had also been closed on Friday besides 57 other roads.

It should be noted that Himachal Pradesh received 397.9 MM rainfall for the season by Friday against the average of 513.5 MM.
