You Can Be Fined OMR100 For Camping Without A Permit By The Muscat Governate; See Camp Site Requirements

And if you are someone who likes to go camping on a regular basis, then you must pay attention to the new regulations that have been issued by the Muscat Governate for camping in the region. Yes, as revealed in a report by the Times of Oman, it was mentioned that this regulation has been set in place for public safety and environmental protection. Muscat Governorate Introduces New Regulations For Campers

If you are found camping without a license in the Muscat Governate, you can be fined OMR200 under the new regulations that have been introduced for camping in the region. In the report, it was mentioned that the Muscat Governate has mentioned that whether a person is in a caravan, tent, or session for more than 48 hours, they must have a permit. The insurance permit must also be paid, which is going to set you back by OMR100.

However, this license is applicable for seven days and is renewable.
So, if you happen to be someone who likes to go camping on a regular basis, then you will want to take note of these camping site requirements.

• The camping site must be in the municipality’s specified area.
• You must maintain a 10 m distance from the beach.
• You must keep a 5 m distance between the campsite.
• You must stay away from fishing areas and other restricted zones.

What Are Technical Requirements To Know Of?

Not only this but there are also technical requirements at camping sites, which are as follows –

• One is not allowed to use concrete or other construction material.
• Issued license numbers should be displayed prominently either on the tent, caravan, or session.
• Car parking, entry, and exit, to and from the site must be in an organised manner.
• Licensees cannot transfer their license to a non-licensee. Neither they can practice activity in a location other than the location that has been specified in the license
• Sound silencing generators are a must.
• You must avoid paving or levelling the site with heavy machinery

In fact, to ensure that safe camping takes place, the site must be kept clean during the entire period of use. One must not damage the crops and plantations. Not to mention, campers should avoid burning or landfilling waste and they must not use the unhygienic mobile restroom. Moreover, there are several penalties for violating camp regulations and they are as follows –

• A fine of OMR200 for those who camp without a permit
• A fine of OMR50 for those who violate the regulations and requirements
• Repeated violations can result in immediate removal from the site
