Dubai’s lively culinary scene has just got a spectacular facelift! But sometimes a nice dinner just isn’t enough. So, Dubai restaurants have resorted to out-of-the-box experiences to offer foodies the perfect blend of food and luxury. We are talking about one such unique bar in Dubai, Gohan, where you must enter through an unnamed door or a secret passageway. Well, let’s dive into the mysteries of this alluring bar in Dubai.
Gohan: A Japanese Bar In Dubai That Promises Mystery With Food
If you have a reservation at Gohan in Dubai’s Michelin-starred La Cantine du Faubourg, the staff will escort you to a secret entrance. There’s an army of cooks standing in an open kitchen, that takes up two walls. And it is the sole remnant of the previous establishment.
Gohan’s hidden entrance and Japanese street food menu create an atmosphere reminiscent of a speakeasy. Hot delicacies include succulent grilled lamb, short ribs with togarashi, and crispy Chilean sea bass with Japanese curry sauce. In contrast, cold dishes include sushi, sashimi, maki, sliced hamachi with shisho pesto, and warm skewers with an ultra soft octopus with spicy ginger butter.
There are cube-shaped lamps for low lighting. The walls are painted red, the ceilings are low, and there are intimate DJ sets to get you grooving throughout the night.

Menu Inspired By Japanese Street Food With Fine Dining
Gohan has a limited seating capacity, which accommodates only 50 diners at a time. So, the fine-dining restaurant asks you to respect the two-hour time limit placed on your reservation. This is not an issue since the meal arrives quickly.
So much so that you may consider requesting a delay in the arrival of your plates. If you’re switching back and forth between fish and meat meals, give your taste buds a break with a piece of ginger or a sip of your drink; the flavours are intense.
The drink menu, in contrast to the food menu, is extensive. It features a huge variety of options from sake by the carafe to wines by the bottle, as well as a separate menu of seven signature cocktails, each of which is inspired by one of the seven lucky Gods of Japan. It also features a unique blend of aromatic herbs and spices that seems to complement the food.
