If you’re bored of the usual food available at railway stations or the food supplied on trains, then we have some good news for you. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has come together with Swiggy to deliver pre-ordered meals to the passengers. This soon-to-be-launched service will be available for users at IRCTC’s e-catering portal. Read on to know more details about this.
IRCTC Announces Tie-Up With Swiggy For Pre-Ordered Meal Delivery
You can soon enjoy your favourite meals even while travelling in trains! As per the recent announcement made by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the train authorities have partnered with food delivery app, Swiggy to bring the pre-ordered meals of choice to its customers.
As per IRCTC, the primary aim of this initiative is to “enhance the passenger experience by offering convenient food options during train journeys.” This partnership between IRCTC and Swiggy will help them streamline the meal ordering and delivery process for the passengers with the help of IRCTC’s e-catering portal.
In a statement, IRCTC said that they have tied up with Swiggy to “supply and deliver pre-ordered meals through IRCTC e-catering portal.” This soon-to-be-launched service will be available at only four railway stations in this early stage. Although they plan to take it pan-India after that.
Services Available At These Stations For Now
As per IRCTC’s statement, this service with Swiggy will be available at Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam railway stations. To order food, all you have to do is log into the IRCTC e-catering portal. Enter your PNR number to unlock restaurant options available in the area during your travel time. You can then choose the meal and proceed to order. You can either pay online or pay on delivery. These pre-ordered meals will be brought to you at your seats. So, you don’t have to look around for the delivery partner.
What is to be noted is that this isn’t the first time IRCTC has joined hands with a food delivery service. In October 2023, they introduced a similar service with Zomato at New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi railway stations.
