Shopping at Dubai Duty-Free at the three terminals has become easier than before. Fretting over currency exchange is a thing of past now if you have Indian currency with you. The authorities at DDF have now started accepting the Indian Rupee for completing transactions. Pick your goodies, drop them in the cart and pay off with the Indian rupee.
This move will benefit thousands of Indian jet setters, more specifically, the large expat community in Dubai. It will also aid all the passengers in transit and make their shopping experience smoother. Previously, Indian travellers often resorted to paying in Dirhams, Dollars or Euros. The Indian currency is now the 16th currency accepted at the DDC in addition to USD, Euros and other Gulf currencies.What’s It?
The currency is set to be accepted from July 1st on all point of sales across the three Dubai terminals. At present, the 100 rupee denomination, 200 rupee denomination, the new 500 rupee denomination and the 2000 rupee denomination is set to be accepted. When paying, the rupee price shall be calculated in terms of its value to Dirhams only.
Famous for its reasonably priced products, a large collection of local and International brands; Dubai Duty-Free is one of the largest retailers in the travel sector. Popular brands like H&M and Mac Cosmetics are one of the favourite customer destinations. With around 28 lakh diaspora Indians in UAE and the airport hosting around 12.2 Million Indians from various part of the country, the move will encourage a large number of shoppers.
