You Can Soon Enjoy Scuba Diving In Ujani Dam

If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the aquatic life up and close then this might be your chance, the Ujani Dam is soon launching scuba diving services in Maharashtra.

What Is It?

Maharashtra Government has decided to launch an opportunity of exploring the underwater world of a heritage temple in the area near the Ujani Dam in order to promote tourism. The Ujani dam was built in 1969 and is one of the biggest reservoirs in the state of Maharashtra. It also serves as a primary source for supplying water in districts of Pune, Solapur and Ahmednagar.

What’s In It?

The submerged temples will now be seen as an opportunity for development for underwater sports tourism. The beautiful underwater relics and the migratory birds will serve as an ideal spot for a getaway.

There will be scuba diving and boating, according to Deepak Horne, Regional Manager, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). You can also experience landscaped gardens, watchtowers and camping facilities.
