The temperature in the UAE is certainly not the best at the moment. Especially with the scorching heat outside and soaring temperatures, it’s quite difficult to step out of one’s house. So, to ensure the safety of children, the Dubai Police has shared a video of what can happen if children are left alone inside the car. In fact, this offence is punishable by imprisonment and/or a fine!

Dubai Police Shares How Leaving Children Alone In Vehicle Can Be Fatal

Dubai Police recently took to their Instagram account to share a video, which shows how the sky-high temperatures inside parked vehicles can lead to fatal situations. This video is especially reminiscent of a recent situation, wherein a mother had left her two-year-old son in the car seat for a few minutes to buy groceries. Once she made an exit from the car, the car doors locked automatically! So, the police were immediately called to help open the door and rescue the child as the keys had also been forgotten inside.

And so, to avoid negligence, the UAE has made punishable with a hefty fine, and jail term. Yes, according to a report by Khaleej Times, under Article 35 of the Wadeema Law, this offence is punishable by imprisonment or/and a fine of up to AED5000 on the basis of judges’ evaluation on a case-by-case basis. As it happens, in some instances where there is endangerment of life, the punishment can be a jail term or/and even a fine of up to AED10,000.

This move comes as especially after there is a need for families to ensure that children exit the vehicle before they’re locked, even if they have to run a small errand. This cautionary step can prevent major accidents or incidents of children being left unattended and avoid a fatal situation. Not to mention, the temperatures have already crossed the 50°C mark, so people have already been advised by doctors to avoid direct exposure to extreme heat.

So, if you have a little munchkin, don’t forget to keep this new development in mind, not just to avoid punishment, but also for the safety of your children.
