Popular podcaster Prakhar Gupta minced no words in his recent post on X (formerly Twitter) which he drafted following a terrible experience on IndiGo. Gupta reveals he was informed that his flight was advanced 2.5 hours before takeoff. From the staff being rude to having to pay for a whole new flight, he slammed the airline for its inefficiency. Here’s more to it.
Prakhar Gupta Slams IndiGo For Inefficiency
Taking to X on Thursday, Prakhar Gupta questioned how an airline can prepone a flight 2-5 hours before its departure. He questioned how can the airline then expect passengers to make it on time and then when one does get five minutes behind on the new time, disallow the passenger from checking in his bag. Gupta said he was made to pay for a new flight. Enraged, he said that there needed to be sanity in flying in India.
Dear @IndiGo6E
How do you change a flight time and PREPONE it, 2.5 hours before the flight at 4 AM in the morning, expect me to make it on time, and then when I do get there 5 minutes behind on the NEW TIME , you do not let me check in my bag and make me pay for a new flight?…

In his opinion, flight providers cannot play with people’s time and lives without compensating passengers for the same. He called it a violation of reasonable terms of service. And alleging that the airline made passengers pay for its errors. His troubles didn’t end there as the ground staff were rude to him and his co-passenger and accused them of filming when they weren’t.
Slams Them For Charging Him Extra; IndiGo Responds
As he didn’t want further hassles, he paid the extra amount. Prakhar Gupta stated that he was charged ₹40,000 for the change in flight while his original ticket didn’t cost more than ₹15,000. But the ground staff gave him a discount and charged him just ₹3000. He found it suspicious that he was given a 90% discount.
Needless to say, your staff was rude to me and my co passenger, accusing us of filming when we were not filming, because I politely asked them the same question- How could they change flight time 2 hours before a flight and charge me extra.
Mind you, at this point I had paid…

The podcaster slammed IndiGo for not taking any accountability for the mishap. The airline responded in the comments section of his blaring post. It informed him that the flight was advanced by 15 minutes due to operational reasons. IndiGo stated that Gupta arrived at the check-in counter after it closed instead of the stipulated 60 minutes before departure. As a gesture of goodwill, despite it being his fault, the airline helped him to book an alternate flight at minimum cost.
Since you arrived after the check-in counter had closed, as per the stipulated timeline of 60 minutes prior to departure, our team was unable to accommodate you. 3/5
