YouTuber Was Booked For Questioning Jain Monks For Not Wearing Clothes

YouTuber Suraj Singh Parshwan was booked after a video surfaced of him apparently mocking Jain monks in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, for being unclothed in public. He is seen in the video questioning and protesting Digambar Jains going about in the open. Following the video’s global success, the police have filed a complaint against Suraj Parshwan. He has been charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 153A, 295A, and 67A.

According to the tweet by Uttarakhand Police, the case was registered after the video surfaced and they are looking into further investigation. The Uttarakhand director general of police has been instructed by Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami to conduct a comprehensive investigation and take necessary action after it was reported that a video depicting misbehaviour with Jain monks was making the rounds on social media. Afterwards, the Chamoli police were instructed to take action by the Uttarakhand police once they became aware of the incident.

He Released A Video Apologising

Even a tweet was posted from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Office’s official account in response to the video. The YouTuber released a video on X expressing his regret for his acts as the uproar grew and the Jain community started to respond to the situation. He said in the video that all he wanted to do was learn about their way of life and culture.

Another person made a snide remark, stating that the one who digs a hole for others, finds himself falling in it.
