Known for his incredible career as a cricketer, Yuvraj Singh recently ventured into the hospitality industry with the launch of his first-ever restaurant, Koca, in Gurugram. And guess what? Our editor-in-chief, Kamiya Jani, was the very first guest at the restaurant. On this episode of Sunday Brunch, they were joined by Yuvraj Singh’s mother, Shabnam Singh, and the episode was all about his childhood stories and cricketing career, as well as his battle with cancer. During the episode, Shabnam also revealed that everyone is scared of her son. Wondering why? Read on to find out.
Yuvraj Singh Was A Mischievous Kid
During the episode, we got to know that kadhi chawal is Yuvraj Singh’s favourite dish. He’s loved it since childhood, so much so that the dish even made it to Koca’s menu. They gave it a Japanese twist, and his mother definitely approved of this version. While we were enjoying the delicious feast, we were curious to know what Yuvraj was like as a child and urged his mother to share some stories. She humorously asked Yuvraj whether she should be truthful or lie in front of the camera and then went on to say that he was a sincere kid—but as he grew up, he became mischievous and is getting even more mischievous today.
Then she made a surprising revelation—everyone around him is scared of him. Why? Because Yuvraj Singh loves to pull pranks on people. He’s even played quite a few on his mother over the years. She shared that whenever he bought a new phone with a new number, the first call he would make was to her—pretending to be a police officer calling to inform her that her son had been arrested for teasing a woman. Unfortunately, she always fell for his pranks.

He Is A Shopaholic!
Later in the episode, we played a fun game with Yuvraj Singh where we asked him some questions and he had to say the first thing that came to his mind. When asked who is the most stylish during a cricket tour, he hesitated slightly before naming himself. Before he could accept being a shopaholic, his mother sarcastically added that he “dislikes” shopping so much that there’s no space left in his closet for more clothes! Yuvraj also revealed that he’s crazy about sneakers and has an impressive collection. Lately, he’s obsessed with all things golf—including trying out tons of golf shoes.
