In some bad news for the foodies in the country, Zomato has decided to pull the plug on its intercity food delivery ‘Legends’ service. The service has been temporarily shut down before but now has been completely suspended from the app. Zomato’s CEO, Deepinder Goyal, also confirmed this news in an X (formerly Twitter) post.
If you click on the Legends tab on the Zomato app, you’ll get an ‘Adios!’ message. The message reads, “After two amazing years of serving dishes from legendary restaurants across the country, we’re stopping this service now. Thank you for trusting us with your special moments – we loved serving you!”
Earlier this year, Zomato Legends was temporarily paused but later restarted with a few tweaks to make orders more profitable. However, the remodeling did not work for the company either and they decided to shut down the service completely on August 22.

Why Zomato Had To Shutter The Service?
Zomato Legends was launched in August 2022 with the hope to bring food lover delicacies from across ten cities in India to their homes. However, it seemed like the service faced hurdles right from the start. According to Deepinder Goyal’s tweet, even after two years of trying, the company was not “finding product market fit.” Keeping this in mind, they decided to shut down the service with immediate effect.
To ensure the service’s success, Zomato added measures like a minimum order value of ₹5,000. Along with this, instead of delivering from the restaurants, the food delivery company started delivering pre-stocked items from other cities to select customers in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and other major cities. However, none of these steps were able to pull the crowd’s attention, forcing Zomato to put the shutter down on this service.
