Amid the festive season, Zomato and Swiggy have decided to increase their platform fee to ₹10. Zomato is calling this new surge the ‘festive season platform fee’. The two apps increased the fee from the existing charge of ₹7 and it has left food lovers fuming! Scroll on to know more about this.

If Swiggy and Zomato are some of the most used apps on your phone, then we have some news for you all. The two biggest food delivery apps in India have decided to increase their platform fees to ₹10, from the previous ₹7, amid the festive rush.

According to CNBC TV18, Zomato released a notification about this platform fee hike that said, “This fee helps us pay our bills to keep Zomato running. To maintain services during festive rush, it has increased slightly.” Following Zomato’s lead, Swiggy too decided to increase its platform fee.

As per reports, Zomato has increased its platform fees by 400% in just over a year. The company introduced the platform fee in August 2023 with a charge of ₹2. Since then, it has increased the fee. to boost margin and become profitable, several times. It is to be noted that this ‘festive season platform fee’ by Zomato will be applicable to all customers, even Gold members. This fee is over and above the delivery fee that the food delivery app charges.
