The iconic Taj Mahal Palace has decided to recreate the landmark independence night of 14 August 1947 with a throwback menu from 12th – 15th August, 1947.
What Is It?
As night fell on 14 August 1947, India stepped into a new independent age. At The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, guests were treated to a sumptuous (albeit rationed as per government regulations at the time) menu of three courses. This was accompanied by flamboyant entertainment and much joy.

To mark 70 years of freedom, the Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts Safaris is curating a celebration like no other. Taj’s master chefs will recreate the menu from the independence night celebrations of 14th August 1947 starting at a special price of INR 1947 plus taxes.
The menu will showcase an authentic take on the classics served 70 years ago and will be available at some of Taj’s iconic city hotels: The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai; Taj Palace, New Delhi; Taj Coromandel, Chennai; Taj Bengal, Kolkata; Taj West End, Bangalore; Taj Krishna, Hyderabad, Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad and St. James Court, A Taj hotel, London.
What Else?
For the brave sons and daughters of the country who are our true heroes – Taj hotels will offer all serving and retired Indian Armed Forces personnel a special discount of 70% on the Best Available Rate across all Taj hotels in India. This special offer will be available to book for the whole day on 15th August (bookings will be open from midnight of 14th August till the midnight of 15th August). Travel dates will be valid from 15th August until 31st October 2017.
