Guwahati Station Becomes India’s First Fully Solar Powered Railway Station

With 2,352 solar modules set up on the roof of Guwahati station, it becomes the first station in the country to become fully solar powered. 

What Is It?

After an entire year of being functional, the solar power project at Guwahati Railway Station has been there for the ones who are conscious about the environment. Nearly 2,352 solar modules are set up on the roof of Guwahati Railway Station that have generated 7,96,669 KWh of electricity within a year’s time!

What Do We Know?

Last year in April, 700 KWp solar power plant was set up and the calculation was made from April 2017 to May 2018. Going towards the environment friendly way, these solar panels have managed to save the city around ₹67,71,687 worth of electricity with a daily output of 2,048 KWh. Looking at the response they’re getting from this solar powered grid, they are planning to launch projects in Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur too.
