Under 140 characters

This Jain temple lets you treat and interact with the birds for free at a Birds Charity Hospital located in the famous bylanes of Chandni Chowk.

What Is It?

Situated inside the Digambar Jain temple, this charitable hospital for birds will make sure you leave with a generous heart. It is an initiative founded by the Aggarwal Digambar Jain panchayat in 1956 on their principle of aversion to killing. It handles donations given out for the most fragile species, birds! They take in almost 60 birds every day – who are mostly injured and treat them, feed them and free them every Saturday after they’ve been fully recovered. Now that’s a genuine cause worth volunteering for.

It’s open to volunteers coming in and spending time with the birds of all kinds – you will find pigeons, eagles, crows, koels and falcons mostly and various other breeds. You can wish to feed them and caress them or take part in donating money for their care.

How Can You Help?

You can bring in these small creatures from any area and give them a free of cost treatment. You can either help donate money to provide them with a nutritious diet or just feed them with their little beaks popping up and down. The place insists on getting whole grains and not anything that can be too harmful. Get corn, chickpea, millet, mung bean, wheat, jowarurad and mustard seeds.
