₹5,000 Fine & Water Wastage Warnings: Bengaluru Housing Societies Take Strict Measures Amid Water Crisis

Bengaluru is facing a massive water crisis right now. To counter this, people in the city are trying new and innovative ways to ensure the conservation of water. It is recently reported that several gated communities and apartments have come up with hefty fines, special security guards, and more such ways to make sure no misuse of drinking water takes place in the region. These steps come amid growing concerns about the drinking water shortage in the city. The state government has reassured the citizens that they’re taking adequate steps and asked them not to panic right away.

Seeing the water crisis in Bengaluru, several housing societies and gated communities have issued advisories for their people. They have advised residents to be careful with water usage and minimise their daily consumption wherever possible. This is especially true in areas like Whitefield, Yelahanka, and Kanakapura, where the water crisis is quite severe.

Some of these steps include imposing a fine of ₹5,000 on anyone found misusing drinking water. Several housing societies have even employed special security guards to monitor water wastage. Apartments like Palm Meadows and Prestige Falcon City Apartment Owners Association notified their residents that they have not received water from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for the past four days. They have, thus, taken such steps to make sure their residents don’t suffer until a permanent solution is found.
