There are certain things specific to Dubai. No, we aren’t talking about the massive sky scrapers or the world’s biggest mall. Life in Dubai is a little different from the other countries- well, Sunday is the new Monday for starters. While this is one rule you might be aware of, there are many others that solely belong to Dubaites. If you have lived in Dubai for more than 6 months, you probably know what we are talking about.
1. Dilveroo and Uber Eats Become Your best friends
Living alone gets pretty tough and more then anyone the food delivery apps become your best friend. It’s the only people you see daily than any of your friends. (thanks to all the traffic!)
2. You know evenings are the worst time to visit a supermarket
You have learned your lesson to pick everything from the supermarket for the week on the weekend itself, because going to a supermarket after work is like a nightmare come true. (again credits to traffic)
3. You can leave your bag unattended
In Dubai, at the start, you probably could not digest the fact that your bags can be left unattended till the time you actually move in. You start keeping your bags and wallets freely at any place because you know its safe.

4. Friends of all nationalities
Dubai is a place where a majority of the population consist of expats so you tend to make friends from all around the world and get to understand different cultures.
5. VOIP access is blocked
You get so used to no WhatsApp calls, FaceTime and Skype that it’s weird when you go back home on a holiday and you get a call on WhatsApp.
6. Drinking and driving is a no-no
You get used to not taking your cars even if you step out for one drink. Because drinking and driving have a zero tolerance policy in Dubai. And if you are caught you’ll be in big trouble.

7. Food and Fitness
If you have lived in Dubai for more than 6 months you know its super difficult to maintain fitness and food balance. You know the struggle is real with all the mouthwatering delicious sugary food available at your disposal.
8. Obsessed with the biggest and largest
From the largest building to malls to jigsaw puzzles, Dubai has everything which is the biggest and largest in the world.

9. Avoiding SZR in the evening
You constantly try to find different ways to avoid the SZR road at rush hours. And if you have found some different routes you don’t share them with anyone because its a secret :P
10. You wait for Ramadan
You probably didn’t know what Ramadan is till the time you move to Dubai. A month of half days and Iftar invites is what you wait for. Though its tough to find food during the day you still love and wait for it every year.
