Dubai Roads and Transport Authority is constantly trying to make movement on Dubai roads easier for the people in the Emirates. And staying true to this philosophy, they are always building and improving roads and bridges to ensure the residents can seamlessly travel from one place to another. And now, they have signed an agreement to build a new bridge between Bur Dubai and Dubai Islands, which will reduce the travel time to a mere 16 minutes.
New Bridge to Connect Bur Dubai & Dubai Island

Dubai Media Office recently announced that the Dubai RTA along with Nakheel has officially signed an agreement for constructing a bridge that would link Dubai Island to Bur Dubai. The bridge would be 1,425 m long with four lines in each direction, and it will also feature a dedicated track for cyclists and pedestrians! It should be noted that this proposed bridge will be directly entering and exiting on the Buj Dubai side. And this will be done through the bridge stretching across the Dubai Creek that extends between the Infinity Bridge and the Port Rashid Development Project. So there will certainly be an ease of travel as the bridge will hold a capacity of 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions!

It Will Reduce Travel time To 16 Minutes
Expected to be completed by 2026, this is going to be a major development project. A crucial phase of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, it is estimated that the total cost of building the bridge will be around AED5.3 billion. Not to mention, this project is expected to serve one million people! However, the best part about this bridge is that it’s going to reduce travel time from the existing 104 minutes to just 16 minutes.
At this point, it’s worth mentioning that this agreement was made formal by the Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, RTA, Mattar Al Tayer, and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Nakheel, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani. As the bridge rises 15.5 m above the waters of the Dubai Creek, it will also feature a whopping 75 m wide canals, which will also allow ships of varied sizes to travel through the creek.
Coming back to the al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, it is regarded as one of the largest projects underway as it includes the construction of 15 intersections and spans 13 km in total.
So, very soon travelling between the two neighbourhoods is going to be quite easy, as the new bridge is certainly going to save us a lot of time!
