Saturday morning started on a rough note in parts of Thrissur and Palakkad districts in Kerala. An earthquake of 3.0 magnitude on the Richter Scale was felt in several regions of both districts. The National Center for Seismology shared necessary information about the natural hazard reported in Kerala. Read on to know all the updates following the incident.

3.0-Magnitude Earthquake Jolted Kerala’s Thrissur And Palakkad Districts

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the National Center for Seismology (@NCS_Earthquake) confirmed that the earthquake in Thrissur was of 3.0 magnitude. It was 8:15 AM on Saturday when it hit different areas in the Thrissur district and mild vibrations were reported. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 7 km. Its epicentre was at latitude 10.55 N and longitude 76.05 E, as stated by the nodal agency.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the tremor was felt for just about 4 seconds. The earthquake caused chaos in some places. People became afraid of the conditions following the vibrations. Many of them came out of their houses feeling the tremors. Though residents began panicking for a few moments, the good news is that the earthquake did not lead to any damage.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, many people in the Palakkad district also experienced tremors. Witnesses of the vibrations were from different areas in Palakkad, Erumappetti, Kunnamkulam, and Pazhanji.

About Earthquakes Jolting Different Parts In India On Friday

The Goalpara town in Assam was hit by an earthquake of 3.0 magnitude on June 14. It was reported at 4:09 PM, the National Center for Seismology shared. Its epicentre was at latitude 26.01 N and longitude 90.37 E with a depth of 5 km.

In the early hours of Friday, an earthquake hit parts of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. With a depth of 10 km, the natural disaster of 3.0 magnitude jolted the region at 3:39 AM. According to information shared by the National Center for Seismology, its epicentre was at latitude 31.48 N and longitude 77.53 E.
