32 New Metro Stations To Soon Be Built In Dubai Spanning Over 140 Sq Km!

It’s no secret that travelling by Dubai Metro is convenient for people. It’s not only economical but also saves a lot of time for commuters as they can avoid traffic snarls. And, it seems that the Dubai Metro service is all set to expand by 2030. Yes, it is expected that Dubai Metro will be adding 32 new stations that will be covering over 140 km² by 2030. Here’s all about this major infrastructure-related development.

32 More Dubai Metro Stations Proposed For Dubai By 2030

As revealed by the Dubai Media Office, there are expansion plans for Dubai Metro. It’s worth mentioning that currently, the Dubai Metro operates 64 stations that are spread across 84 km². However, the plan is to increase this to 140 square kilometres by 2030. And the aim is to cover 140 stations spread across 228 km² by 2040. In fact, this plan comes under the division of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Ruler of Dubai and the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammad Al Maktoum who is the Crown Prince of Dubai.

It Will Also Reduce Carbon Emission To 16 Tonnes Per Capita

It’s worth mentioning that some of the key goals include increasing the share of public transport to 45%. This will reduce carbon emissions to 16 tonnes per capita, which will also help in improving the quality of public spaces. As a result, it is bound to increase shaded areas and encourage walking. As mentioned in a report by the Khaleej Times, it will also provide incentives for developers and also offer services. This will support the ’20-minute city’ concept that will thereby increase the number of commuters.

Besides this, the council approved the Foreign Direct Investment Development Programme as well. This programme aims to attract AED650 billion of investments to Dubai by 2033. In fact, it also includes international companies and aims to support the expansion of existing international companies that have bases in Dubai.
