Train rides are always fun, especially when they are connected to international destinations. We are aware that Eurail offers cross border train service. Indian Railways and its neighbouring countries jointly run passenger and freight services. Along with other government agencies, partner railway agencies are involved in the building, maintenance, and management of border checkpoints and railway lines. Here’s all about the international trains operating from India.
4 International Trains Which Travel From India
1. Samjhauta Express
Every Thursday and Monday, the Samjhauta Express ran between Delhi and Attari in India and Lahore in Pakistan. In accordance with the terms of the Simla Agreement, the train began service on July 22, 1976, and travelled 50.2 km between Amritsar and Lahore. When the train service began in 1976, the Samjhauta Express ran every day. In 1994, the schedule was modified to run every two weeks.
There is just an offline ticket sales window at the Atari Junction in Amritsar for the train with the number 14607. You must apply for and be granted a Pakistani visa before you can purchase a ticket for the same. The train tickets cannot be bought without a current Pakistani visa. The train leaves India at 11.30 am and arrives in Lahore at 3.40 pm, having travelled 27 km in 4 hours and 10 minutes. This train only makes one stop, in Punjab’s Wagah. It operates on Mondays and Thursdays, twice a week. One of India’s most recognisable international trains is this one.
2. Thar Link Express
An international passenger train known as the Thar Express operated between Karachi Cantonment in the Pakistani Province of Sindh and Bhagat Ki Kothi, a suburb of Jodhpur in the Indian State of Rajasthan. The Thar Desert, a subcontinental desert, inspired the train’s name.
The train’s number is 14890, and reservations for it can only be made offline once a valid Pakistani visa has been obtained. The train crosses the border into Pakistan at the Bhagat Ki Kothi railway station in Jodhpur, India. From there, it travels westward from Balotra, Barmer, and Manabao, following sections of the Hyderabad–Khokhrapar Branch Line and the Karachi–Peshawar Railway Line. The trip leaves every Saturday at 1:00 am from Bhagat Ki Kothi and arrives at Munabao at 7:00 am, covering a distance of approximately 381 km in around 12 hours and 15 minutes.

3. Maitree Express
The Maitree Express is the first air-conditioned, international express train service of its kind, running from Kolkata, in the Indian state of West Bengal, to Dhaka, in Bangladesh. The Maitree Express connects Dhaka and Kolkata. It operates from each side six days a week. From Kolkata, the train travels around 375 kilometres to Dhaka. There are two immigration controls: the Gede (Indian side) and the Dorshona (Bangladesh side). The train leaves Kolkata at 7:10 am and arrives in Dhaka at 4:05 pm. Tickets for the same can only be purchased offline at the Kolkata train station and only when a valid Bangladesh visa has been obtained. One of the less well-known Indian international trains is this one.
4. Bandhan Express
Every week, the Bandhan rapid train travels from Kolkata, India, to Khulna, Bangladesh. It is an international rapid rail service. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced Bandhan Express, originally known as Maitree Express II, in November 2017. Beginning in Kolkata, the Bandhan Express makes stops in India at Dum Dum and Bangaon before entering the United States at Petrapole. The train passes through Jhikargachha and Jashore before arriving at Benapole on the Bangladeshi border, which is followed by the Khulna railway station in Bangladesh. Passports must be presented at the time of booking, and tickets for the same are only granted once the visa has been issued.
