40 Emirates Aircraft Undergo Makeover For Expo 2020

Forty Emirates aircraft have undergone a major makeover, ahead of Expo 2020. The aircraft are painted in shades of orange, green and blue, signifying different themes of the Expo.

What’s It?

Ahead of Dubai’s grand Expo 2020, forty Emirates aircraft has undergone a makeover and now sport an all-new look. Passenger planes- 20 Airbus A380 and 20 Boeing 777 have colours and logo of the 2020 Expo on their exteriors. This is an attempt to promote the mega event that is expected to attract over 25 million visitors.

The aircraft’s new look comprises circles and hoops, around a ring, in three colours, that reflect the themes of the global exposition. The colours used in the design include amber, green and blue. These signify opportunity, sustainability and mobility. The new paint task is one of the biggest projects undertaken by the Emirates Aircraft Appearance Centre.

It took about 15,000 hours, panned across 14 months to complete the first aircraft. Boeing 777-300ER was the first one to get the makeover in 2017. The aircraft was painted blue, signifying the Expo theme- mobility. 

Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group said: “As we begin to gear up for Expo 2020 Dubai, we are proactively tapping into the power of Emirates’ network to spread awareness and capture the world’s attention around the themes of this global event.”

What Else?

Expo 2020 will open doors to visitors on October 20, 2020, and over 190 countries have confirmed their participation. Emirates is said to have a major role in the Expo as it offers direct services to 67 participant countries.
