5 Best Bars In Colaba

The epicenter of all activity in South Bombay has to be in Colaba. From being a shopper’s paradise, to having some of Mumbai’s iconic restaurants, Colaba is perfect for everybody. Curly Tales is here today to list down all the coolest bars to drink at in Colaba. How many will you try out this weekend?

1. Leopold Cafe

Leopold Cafe located in Colaba and around since 1871, this cafe has become a legend in Mumbai. This is the cafe that survived the 26/11 terrorist attack back in 2008 but the cafe has come a long way since and still continues to be one of the iconic spots in Mumbai. At any given time, you’ll find it crowded with locals and foreigners alike. It’s been a popular boozing spot for college kids in the area, shoppers that have spent the day street shopping at Colaba Causeway and even locals. 80s and 90s kids wouldn’t miss a chance to grab a drink here, and 2000s kids, well, can’t drink yet and Curly Tales doesn’t promote underage drinking :P

2. Irish House

Probably one of the classiest places in Colaba, resembling an Irish pub. Their slogan goes – Irish Today, Hangover Tomorrow – stands true because they have mind-blowing offers on happy hours on all days! Everyday from 5 PM to 8 PM, enjoy a buy one get one free on every drink in bar and a pint of beer starts at ₹165. Isn’t that reason enough to get you drunk? Irish House will always be buzzing with lively music, funny posters hanging on the walls and a courteous staff to serve up those drinks and food in no time!

3. Cafe Mondegar

Combining the love for cartoon illustrations and food, Cafe Mondegar has been serving American Grills and Indian dishes to us since the 1930s. Mondy’s was among amongst the first (along with Leopold Cafe) and most iconic restaurant and bars in Mumbai. Located close to the Gateway of India, this cafe is another iconic legend in Colaba. It hosts a retro decor with jukeboxes, comic drawings, and sketches. Grab a grilled chicken breast with a mug of beer here and you’re good to go!

Located right opposite Regal Cinema, Pergula is a small cafe and restaurant that has 15 tables and perfect for couples to enjoy a romantic date night. Preserving the classy vibe of South Bombay, Pergula offers some great cocktail concoctions for you to get your booze on in no time. Reminisce your childhood days with their boozy popsicles, or take a shot of their Jager Bomb Spheres. Want to find out more about Pergula’s offerings? Watch this video –

5. Gokul

Perfect for those stricken with month-end problems, Gokul offers pocket-friendly drinks and the usual crowd here will be college students and youngsters. Located behind the Taj Mahal Hotel, Gokul offers 2 seating options – the upstairs (air conditioned) section and the downstairs (non-air conditioned). Overall, the place might give you a dingy vibe with exposed brick walls, dimmed lights and a low ceiling but it is one of the most happening spots in SoBo on any night!
