Mumbai might disappoint you with its traffic but the one thing that it won’t disappoint you with, its the food. If you are in Mumbai then you should eat at these joints where literally generations of families have eaten. Here are a few iconic places in Mumbai that go back in time.
1. Amar Juice Centre, Juhu
Amar juice Centre, a tiny joint tucked behind a huge tree on the streets of Vile Parle, is the place to be to satiate your midnight hunger pangs. It’s not the juice but the undeniably delicious pav bhaji that will blow your mind away. While you’re at it, don’t forget to devour their tawa pulav. We also have only good things to say about their kulfi falooda. The lack of chairs hasn’t stopped Amar from doing business, they lay mattresses for you to indulge your butterly pav bhaji on.

2. Sardar Refreshments/Sardar Pav Bhaji, Tardeo
A restaurant definitely deserves to be in the iconic list if its owner, Sardar Ahmed, is the founder of pav bhaji. About 52 years back, Sardar Ahmed blessed us with a food item called ‘Pav Bhaji’. Sardar’s piping-hot butter pav bhaji is a treat to the taste buds, and when we say butter we mean abundance of it. The pav bhaji here, generously garnished with dollops of creamy Amul butter, is quite pocket friendly.

4. K. Rustom, Marine Lines
Just a few yards away from Marine Drive, stands the oldest little ice cream shop in Mumbai. K Rustom was initially a departmental store started by Khodabux Rustom Irani. However after World War 2, it was converted into an ice cream shop. And since then, it has been our favorite spot to chill at in the summers. The ice cream sandwich served here consists of a delicious flavored ice cream bar with paper thin wafer slices on both sides of it. The flavors here are endless, so better be prepared to try out paan to kharbuza to guava.
