It looks like the young brigade in India is steering the wheel for family vacation planning. As per a new report, 93% of Indian Gen Alpha & Gen Z are now actively contributing to family’s holiday planning and even the parents are choosing vacation destinations based on their children’s interests. Gen Alpha & Gen Z Take Lead While Planning Family Vacations In India

They might be young, but they definitely know what they want, at least when it comes to travelling! As per Hilton’s 2025 Trends Report, Indian Gen Alpha and Gen Z are now in charge of family travel planning. The ‘Small Voices, Big Choices’ section of the report showed that family travel is increasingly influenced by the preferences of Gen Alpha and Gen Z, with 93% of young travellers actively contributing to their family’s vacation planning.

What’s also interesting is that 76% of Indian parents, as compared to 70% globally, are letting the young ones choose vacation destinations. However, areas like transportation, dining, accommodation, budgeting, and trip duration are still primarily managed by parents. As per Hilton’s 2025 Trends Report, this growing involvement of the younger generation highlights the evolving dynamic of family travel.

It also looks like Indian Gen Alpha and Gen Z travellers are keen explorers too! While choosing travel destinations, the young generation is excited to explore both local and international destinations. They have shown equal interest in enjoying India’s rich culture and global adventures.

1. India (34%)
2. Singapore (28%)
3. America (22%)
4. Australia (20%)
5. United Kingdom (17%)

Young Indians Embracing Annual Travel

According to Hilton’s 2025 Trends Report, Gen Alpha and Gen Z across the Asia Pacific are avid travellers! The report shows that 92% of them took at least one trip in the past year. In India, the travel bug has bitten them even harder, with young travellers averaging two to three trips annually, and 94% travelling at least once a year!

The report also found that India’s Gen Alpha and Gen Z travellers are also planning trips centred around entertainment, sports, adventure. So, you will find many of them planning trips to watch a sports event, attend a concert, and even do outdoor activities.
