On our latest Sunday Brunch episode, we had none other than celebrity chef, actor and YouTube sensation Ranveer Brar at Shifuku by Curly Tales. Chef Ranveer taught our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani to make sushi. As they created culinary magic together, Ranveer shared his incredible journey topped with the perfect blend of flavours and inspiration.
Chef Ranveer Brar Believes Chefs Are Multifaceted
While teaching Kamiya Jani the art of making sushi at Shifuku by Curly Tales, Ranveer Brar said, “A chef is an engineer, carpenter and manager.” To this, she replied, “You are more than that. Also, add actor, YouTuber, singer, poet.” While rubbing two knives together to test the blade’s sharpness and edge, Ranveer made this revelation. He told Kamiya that the knife needed to move in a see-saw direction while cutting a sushi roll. Similar to how a carpenter uses his tools to craft products.
A man who dons many hats, Chef Ranveer’s first interest was writing before cooking. The highly creative man started painting and sculpting before he got his hands immersed in cooking. The celebrity chef confessed that he never knew he would be famous in life and he didn’t manifest this life either. From Yin-Yang Sushi to Closed Sushi, Ranveer Brar delighted us with his “royalty-free” curations.

He Taught Kamiya Jani To Make Sushi
What he loved the most was that Chef Ranveer Brar was impressed with Shifuku by Curly Tales. “I love the colours. They are nice and earthy and not too loud. Very statement-ish,” says the Chef. Moreover, he explained that most Asian countries believe in celebrating the ingredients with minimal invasion as they are blessed with great ingredients. The last time we met Chef Ranveer Brar he taught us to make lip-smacking Prawn Curry. While he shared the recipe with us, we couldn’t recreate the magic.
