Stop what you’re doing! An amazing celestial event is set to take place in UAE tonight and you can be a part of it too! A ‘supermoon’ also called the ‘pink moon’ will be visible in the UAE tonight, 27 April. This will be the first Supermoon of the year, out of the two that is expected to be visible in 2021. With the holy month here, this is one beautiful sight you certainly must not miss.
Tonight's full Moon is near its closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit, so what does that mean? A supermoon! The Moon will appear a little bigger and brighter than average. https://t.co/leEJw6y4XM pic.twitter.com/ETub1yYArR

The Pink Moon Is 14% Larger Than The Usual Moon
The highlight of the supermoon is that it is a full moon that appears 14% larger than the usual moon, and 30% more luminous. Although it is refereed as the ‘pink’ moon, the first supermoon will not appear in any shade of pink. In fact, the moon is said to look pale pink only in the early hours of morning. The name refers to the pink wildflowers, known as “Phlox Subulta” that bloom during the springtime on the east coast in North America.
Apart from being known as the pink moon, there are many other names to this full moon. The pink moon is also referred to as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon and, the Fish moon among coastal tribes of North America. UAE residents can view the visual treat either by just heading to their balcony or head to Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre at Mushrif Park later tonight to look at this celestial spectacle through one of the largest telescopes in the region that has a one-metre diameter mirror.
