Did you know some books are actually never read even in libraries or book exhibitions? Well, but that might not be the case anymore- thanks to Dubai’s new concept library. The new arts installation at Jameel Arts Centre will house unread books, finally giving them a purpose. The region’s first Library of Unread Books will open doors in November this year. The collection comprises of a bunch of donations, submitted by book worms across the UAE.
What’s It?
Book worms, in case you missed reading a book, here’s your chance! A brand new library is coming to Dubai, but with an ‘unread’ collection. Dubai’s Library of unread books will open doors for all book worms from November 16-January 31, 2020. That’s three months of reading your heart out.
Located in the Jameel’s Lobby of Jameel Arts Centre, the library will be stocked with books donated by voracious readers across the UAE. The reference library comprises of books that went unread by its previous owners. The concept was introduced by Singapore-based practitioners Heman Chong and Renée Staal. The Library of Unread Books currently comprises of over 700 donated books.
Visitors at Jameel Arts are welcome to flip through the unread books and also donate their own.
