A scuba diving group is now converting ocean plastic wastes into face masks. In one way, it will combat the virus spread. On the other hand, it will protect the lives of sea creatures. What Is It?
The California-based Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has teamed up with the eco-friendly activewear brand Rash’R to create reusable face masks that cost $20.40 per piece. Each of these masks is dual-layered and has five replacement filters. The masks are a bit expensive, solely due to the cost incurred in manufacturing them. The company has informed that they are not trying to profit from the product during this hard time. These masks, made out of plastic bottles, are already available for pre-order on the PADI site. One can pick up from cool ocean-themed designs like geometric shark, blue shark, scuba diver, great white shark and manta ray.

What Else?
Around 15,000 masks have already been pre-ordered. The companies had to increase production to meet the amazing demands. The masks have already helped to remove about 1267 pounds of ocean scraps, thus reducing pollution of ocean water to a great level. The number of masks produced worldwide is already falling short in keeping up with the global population size. This initiative will not only provide more masks but will also allow surgical masks and N95 respirator masks to be reserved for the frontliners.
