The global leaders are working to create a health permit/ a global COVID certificate for flexible and comfortable travel experiences to national and international destinations. Meanwhile, this will also help in improving the economic situation and recovering from the past 2 years. Julia Simpson, the president and CEO of the World Travel And Tourism Council (WTTC) stated that WTTC is working hard to initiate new digital methods. These will upgrade and boost the business of travel and tourism, especially this summer.

What Is This Global COVID Certificate?

The digital solutions to travel post-pandemic will require the health status of the travellers imprinted digitally with their travel documents. A great example is the EU Digital COVID Certificate. In fact, 62 countries have already approved this certificate.

How Is Everything Coming To Action?

The parliament of the European Union approved the certificate for the Covid-19 vaccine on 9 June 2021. It came into action on 1 July 2021. This global Covid certificate contains each and every information of the traveller related to the virus, its vaccination, and the test results. The certificate will record the details of the past vaccination records, whether the person ever contracted the virus and recovered from it, and also if the person received a negative covid test result. You can access this certificate with completely zero cost both in digital form or a hard copy with a QR code. Also, countries like India, China, Australia, and United States are working on issuing their digital certificate.

The Philippines hosted the 21st WTTC Global Summit at the Manila Marriott Hotel just a few days back. Almost 1,000 delegates from the entire world were present at the summit to hold a discussion on ‘Travel Rediscovery’. Craig S. Smith, the President of the Marriott International Group said that this initiative should be made public. It will be a very simple and helpful method while travelling, if implemented correctly.
