In a recent confusing incident in the aviation industry, A Swiss International Air Lines flight took off from one country and reached its destination in another without carrying the check-in bags of any passengers. Swiss International Air Lines Reached Spain & Still, There Were No Suitcases

The flight simply took from Zurich with only passengers on board the aircraft. After finishing the air journey, it landed in Spain’s Bilbao on September 9, 2023. Though all the passengers reached their destinations, their bags were left in another country. Everyone was simply waiting at the conveyor belt to collect their luggage. They waited for over 2 hours, according to a report by the Swiss-German newspaper Blick. Little did they know that their suitcases were left in Zurich.

All the passengers were extremely disappointed to hear about their suitcases not reaching Bilbao. They talked about how the Swiss International Air Lines flight pilot apologised to them for a delay in taking off from Zurich. During this time, they were not informed about the suitcase mishap or the reason behind the delay. In fact, the airline never informed the 111 passengers about the luggage waiting in Zurich. Iberia crew members informed them about the blunder, according to a report by The Independent.

How Did The Airline Forget About Boarding Suitacases On The Flight?

Kavin Ampalan, a spokesperson for Swiss said to AFP that there was a shortage of ground staff and the flight took off without luggage due to operational reasons, according to a report by the Business Insider. The same flight was also scheduled to take off from Bilbao and return to Zurich with other passengers. The crew of the Swiss International Air Lines flight waited for 1 hour and 16 minutes so that the ground staff could complete loading the bags. Ampalam also added how the airline was flying the plane on that day on Edelweiss Air’s behalf.
