Balasaheb Thackeray is a name that no one in Maharashtra could ever forget. Known for his fearless attitude, Balasaheb was a man who stood by his ethics and values. We had a Sunday Brunch with his beloved grandson and one of the youngest politicians of Maharashtra, Aaditya Thackeray. Quite a foodie himself, this young politician is a photographer, nature lover, and of course, a hard-core Mumbaikar! And we had a long talk about his likes and dislikes, family, travel, and food.

Love For Varan Bhaat

Having brunch with Aaditya Thackeray was like meeting a true Mumbaikar. We talked about his love for food and his extensive list of favourite food joints. But he replied by saying that though he is a foodie, he eats like a sparrow. He can eat ten items but in little quantities. He further told us about his favourite dish — a traditional Maharashtrian ‘varan bhaat’. For him, this simple Marathi dish is a comfort food that he loves to enjoy with ghee and lemon. He further said that he loves everything from bhajji pav to Thai curry. And wherever he visits, he tries to eat the local cuisine of that place.

At the brunch, Aaditya Thackeray spoke passionately about Mumbai and its culture. He said that the Kala Ghoda cafe is one of his favourites as it has an old-world charm. And the entire place has got a heritage value and a sense of architectural beauty. You just need a camera and you will click something. In these narrow lanes, you might find some nice, quaint places to eat. The place has got a vibe of working Mumbai and it is buzzing even at four o’clock in the morning.

He also said that he still goes to movies in theatres and other places like a normal person. Being a politician is difficult, but it seems like this charming young man is nailing the job.
