UAE has been taking futuristic initiatives to help and support People of Determination to lead a normal life. From creating special counters for easy access at the airports to arrangements at public parks and more, the UAE has been leading the way. A recent take to pave the way for such initiatives is easy access to the beaches in Abu Dhabi. In a significant move towards community well-being and environmental sustainability, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) and Mubadala have entered into a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to drive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives throughout Abu Dhabi, with a particular focus on promoting inclusivity and accessibility.
Commitment to Community Well-being For People Of Determination
Dr. Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, the Director General of Operational Affairs at the DMT, emphasized the profound commitment behind the partnership. He stated that as they join forces with Mubadala, the partnership is more than a collaboration; it’s a shared commitment to elevate Abu Dhabi’s quality of life. He envisions a future where their strategic partnership serves as a beacon for community well-being, environmental sustainability, and inclusivity.
Beach Accessibility Project: A Gateway to Freedom
The flagship initiative under this partnership is the Beach Accessibility Project, dedicated to enhancing beach access for People of Determination. The project introduces cutting-edge elements such as sea elevators and guided track access. All these requirements to help the community have been powered by the innovative SEATRAC system.
SEATRAC, with its non-fixed installation design, ensures flexible and adaptable access to the seawater. Tailored for individuals with mobility restrictions, the system promotes independent beach exploration. Fueled by renewable energy, it aligns seamlessly with DMT’s sustainability strategy, guaranteeing both efficiency and eco-friendliness.
The Beach Accessibility Project will span five prominent beaches in Abu Dhabi: Al Bateen Public Beach, Al Bateen Ladies’ Beach, Corniche Public Beach, Corniche Family Beach, and Corniche Sahil Beach.
Freshwater Drinking Fountains To Sustain Health & The Environment
In addition to beach accessibility, the partnership will establish 26 freshwater drinking fountains across Abu Dhabi’s parks. These fountains, equipped with internal water reservoirs, filters, and high-capacity chilling units, present a sustainable solution for quenching residents’ thirst while reducing reliance on single-use plastic bottles.
Homaid Al Shimmari, Deputy Group CEPO and Chief Corporate and Human Capital Officer at Mubadala Investment Company, expressed Mubadala’s commitment. He mentioned that Mubadala has an unwavering commitment to creating a positive impact in the communities they serve. He expressed their delight in supporting this important initiative. Homaid highlighted that their partnerships with the government and other entities are helping drive forward the goals of the emirate.
