Holiday home owners and operators in Abu Dhabi are set to enjoy a far simpler path to licensing after the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) rolled out an upgraded digital system for the sector.
A Faster, Smarter Licensing System
The revamped platform is designed to cut approval times, simplify licensing procedures and give owners a more flexible way to manage their properties online, all while strengthening compliance across the board.
According to DCT Abu Dhabi, the update improves how holiday home revenue is tracked, strengthens coordination with other government entities, and adds fresh tools for monitoring, inspections, and compliance tracking, giving operators a clearer path to meeting the emirate’s quality and safety standards.
Building On 2024 Reforms
This isn’t the system’s first upgrade. The latest changes build on reforms introduced in 2024, when the holiday home licensing platform was integrated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport and a self-inspection system, a move that had already brought permit issuance times down to under six hours.
Hamad Mohammed Alsudain, Acting Executive Director of Support Services at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the advances further strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a world-class tourism destination, adding that the improvements reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to digital transformation and honour its pledge under Tourism Strategy 2030 to enhance the holiday home segment and diversify accommodation options across the emirate.
Compliance And Data Protection Get A Boost
Data protection has also been built into the update. DCT Abu Dhabi confirmed the system complies with required data protection policies, with sensitive information managed and stored in line with security and integrity requirements, an important reassurance for owners handling guest details and payment information through the platform.

For travellers, the update is good news too. Owners already licensed under the older system are not expected to take any additional steps, with the transition designed to run in the background as DCT Abu Dhabi continues to phase in improvements across its digital services.
