Flying To Abu Dhabi? Etihad Passengers Set To Receive Free Medical Insurance Starting…

Planning a trip to Abu Dhabi next year? There may be one less thing to worry about before boarding your flight. From July 2026, eligible travellers flying with Etihad Airways will automatically receive complimentary medical travel insurance during their stay in the UAE. The cover will be included with qualifying tickets, so visitors won’t need to fill out extra forms or apply separately.

Etihad To Offer Free Medical Insurance For Abu Dhabi Visitors From July

The new benefit is being introduced through a partnership between Etihad Airways, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and health insurer Daman.

For many travellers, sorting out travel insurance is one of those things that gets left until the last minute. This new arrangement aims to take that step out of the process altogether.

Visitors Won’t Need To Do Anything Extra

One of the biggest talking points is how simple the system is expected to be.

If travellers meet the eligibility requirements, the medical cover will automatically come with their ticket. No additional paperwork. No separate registration process. The insurance will remain valid for up to 15 days while visitors are in the UAE.

Who Can Get The Free Cover?

The offer is available to international visitors travelling on Etihad-operated flights to Abu Dhabi.

There are two important conditions. The journey must begin outside the UAE, and the ticket must also be purchased outside the country. Guests using Etihad’s stopover programme will also be included during their stay in Abu Dhabi. The initiative will run from July until December 2026.

A Move Aimed At Making Travel Easier

Abu Dhabi has been attracting more visitors every year, thanks to a mix of cultural landmarks, beaches, family attractions and large-scale events. Places like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Saadiyat Island and Yas Island continue to draw tourists from around the world. But travel plans often come with concerns about unexpected medical expenses. By including healthcare cover directly with eligible tickets, Abu Dhabi’s tourism and aviation sectors are hoping visitors feel more comfortable booking a trip.

More Peace Of Mind While Exploring

For travellers heading to Abu Dhabi later next year, it’s an extra benefit that arrives without any additional effort.

Sometimes the small details matter most. And for visitors, knowing medical cover is already in place may make the journey feel just a little easier.
