GCC Updates

1. Fire At A Restaurant On SZR Brought Under Control

On Monday, July 6th, a fire broke out at a restaurant on Sheikh Zayed Road. This fire was later brought under control after over three hours. No injuries were reported, as revealed by Dubai Civil Defence. The Dubai Civil Defence Operations Room had received the emergency call in the morning at 7:42 am. Firefighters were immediately dispatched!

2. DMT In Abu Dhabi Completes Many Infrastructure Projects

DMT in Abu Dhabi reaffirms its commitment to advancing infrastructure development. According to a report, many infrastructure projects across Abu Dhabi were completed. As a result, the authority delivered 31 projects in 2025. It includes 89 parks, three tunnels, two bridges, 800 lighting poles, 85 kilometres of cycling tracks, 1,446 parking spaces, 105 bus shelters, eight major intersection upgrades, and one traditional market.

3. Parking At Yas Island Attractions Goes Digital

At some of the busiest attractions at Yas Island, parking has gone fully digital. Yes, from July 6th onwards, motorists visiting Yas Marina, Yas Bay Waterfront and West Yas Plaza will be able to use a new smart parking system. So, visitors no longer need paper tickets, parking barriers or cash.

4. Mwasala To End Cash Payments From August 1st

Mwasalat has announced that it will go cashless from August 1st in Muscat and Salalah. This development comes as the transport system moves to a fully electronic payment system. The public bus transport system announces that ticket fares will only be accepted through the approved digital payment methods.

5. Toblerone Crystal Bar Lands At Dubai Duty Free

The rarest Toblerone crystal bar ever created is now finally in Dubai. Yes, crafted from 576 hand-cut crystal facets by Swarovski, it’s at Dubai Duty Free. Passengers can bid for this. So, place your bid before the auction ends on July 31st.
