Abu Dhabi’s Terminal A Announces Opening In 3 Phases; Here’s The List Of Airlines Moving There

Abu Dhabi International Airport opens today. This new state-of-the-art terminal signals a new era in the aviation history of the United Arab Emirates. In fact, in its first seven days of operation, 637 flights will depart and arrive, as more than 20 airlines will be transitioning to this terminal. Take a look.

Terminal A Of Abu Dhabi Opens On November 1

The new Terminal A of Abu Dhabi International Airport has finally opened on November 1 for the public. As it happens, 28 airlines will be transitioning to the terminal and the airport will become fully functional from November 15. As such, the new official name of this airport is Zayed International Airport, and this will come into effect from February 9, 2024. For those who aren’t aware, this decision was taken by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of UAE, who renamed the airport.

Airlines Transitioning In 1st Phase

In case you’re wondering about all the flights that will be transitioning to Terminal A in the first phase, these include –

Talking about the second phase, this will begin on November 9 and the airline transitioning will happen for selected flights of Etihad Airways. Finally, phase three of this transition will begin on November 14, which will include the transitioning of several other airlines. They are as follows –

Highlights Of The New Terminal

As it happens, this new terminal will bring an increase in capacity for commercial aviation in Abu Dhabi. Not to mention, it will also double the number of passengers by providing them with the facilities to process up to 45 million passengers annually. Moreover, this terminal will also strengthen the emirate’s global standing as an aviation hub. Since, it will be capable of handling 79 planes at once and 11,000 passengers per hour, which is a massive increase. Not to mention, this increase will also allow the airline to boost its presence in Abu Dhabi. Not to mention, the leading facilities include biometric technology, 35,000 m² of retail and food & beverage space, and 163 outlets for passengers, where they can shop, dine, and even enjoy.

As it happens, ahead of its opening, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council visited the new terminal.

So, with the new terminal officially open, you might want to be careful about what terminal your flight is scheduled to take off from. For this, the Abu Dhabi International Airport on its official account on X mentioned an easy way to do so. A traveller just needs to scan the QR Code in and around the airport or they can even go to the official website of the airport to instantly access their flight details.
