Many amazing Met Gala outfits made headlines recently and got everyone talking, but it seems like they now have competition. A reality TV star recently wore a dress made from over 500 loaves of bread at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) held in Nigeria.

Queen Mercy Atang Turns Heads In Bread Loaf Dress

The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards is often described as Africa’s biggest night in film and fashion. The 12th edition of these awards was held on May 9 at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.  Many celebrities arrive dressed in dramatic gowns, shimmering fabrics, and heavy designs for the red carpet. But reality TV star Queen Mercy Atang grabbed all the attention when she arrived in a dress made from more than 500 loaves of bread.

According to the BBC, this eye-grabbing outfit was designed to promote her bread-baking business and was her way of advertising and marketing it. The dress was designed by Toyin Lawani of Tiannah’s Empire and instantly became one of the night’s biggest talking points. And honestly, who would not talk about a dress made from loaves of bread?

Netizens React To The Eye-Grabbing Dress 

The gown apparently highlighted the theme of ‘wearing your business’ on the red carpet. Talking about the gown, the bodice featured a gold shimmery design while the loaves of bread were attached from the waist down. Just like every eye-grabbing dress, this one also made netizens discuss its design on social media. 

Some users praised the creativity, while many people also stated that the design represented food wastage. It seems like not everyone was impressed by this ‘bread dress’. Many celebrities turned heads with creative designs. Ghanaian fashion star Nana Akua Addo arrived dressed like a cathedral, while another celebrity, Uche Montana, wore a dress representing fire and birth.
