In a captivating rendezvous with tradition, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister and the Ruler of Dubai mingled with participants of the annual “Camel Trek” at the Seih Al Salam area in Dubai’s Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.

Embarking On A Camel Trek

The camel trekkers, en route to the Heritage Village in Global Village, were amid a remarkable 12-day sojourn across the UAE desert, commencing from Abu Dhabi’s Arada area and culminating in the heart of Dubai. This 10th edition of the event, orchestrated by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, aimed to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural tapestry of the region.

Sheikh Mohammed, ever the visionary leader, delved into the progress of the expedition led by Abdullah Hamdan Bin Dalmook, the CEO of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre. The eclectic group of 37 participants, hailing from 16 countries spanning continents, embodied the spirit of global unity and cultural diversity.

Distance Covered And Landscape Explored

Navigating a total distance of 557 km, the camel trekkers embarked on a journey through the diverse terrains of the UAE desert. This venture, initiated by Sheikh Mohammed’s vision, echoed the call for tolerance, understanding, and coexistence, encapsulating the essence of the Emirati heritage.

Bin Dalmook underscored that the ‘Camel Trek’ resonates with Sheikh Mohammed’s commitment to upholding authentic values and principles. The event, serving as a melting pot of cultures, witnessed participation from nations like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, France, and the UAE, showcasing the global appeal of Emirati heritage.

Past Encounters & Surprises At Camel Trek In Dubai

Reflecting on past editions, the ‘Camel Trek’ has been a platform for surprise encounters. In 2021, 29 camel trekkers met Sheikh Mohammed during the 8th Camel Trek, adding an unexpected twist to their journey towards Expo 2020 Dubai.
