Well, well, well… look who just raced past the USA in the supertall skyscraper list. It’s the UAE, flexing with 37 completed skyscrapers over 300 metres tall. The USA? Still at 31. The bragging rights now sit firmly in the Gulf, and you already know who’s at the front of this skyline surge? Dubai, the city that treats height limits like they’re just a casual suggestion.
The UAE Just Levelled Up In The Global Skyscrapers List
This ranking comes straight from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), the folks who keep track of who’s literally rising above the rest. Their latest data puts the UAE 2nd globally when it comes to supertall structures and third overall across all height brackets. That includes 345 towers over 150 metres and 159 above 200 metres. Not bad for a nation that started with desert dunes a few decades ago.
Of course, China remains king of the clouds, sitting pretty with 122 supertalls, over 3,400 buildings taller than 150 metres. But for a country the size of the UAE to be in the top three is also no small feat.
Dubai’s Towering Icons & What’s Still To Come
Let’s start with the obvious: Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, still owns the crown at a breezy 828 metres. But Dubai isn’t putting all its height dreams in one. The city’s got a long list of neck-ache-inducing skyscrapers that form its iconic skyline.
Runners-up include Marina 101 at 425 metres, which also happens to be the fourth-tallest residential building in the world. Then there’s Princess Tower (414m), which once held the title for the tallest residential tower globally. 23 Marina (392.8m), Elite Residence (381m), and Kempinski The Boulevard (370m) all continue to make the area filled with a gorgeous skyline.
Honourable mentions? Think Almas Tower, Il Primo, JW Marriott Marquis, and Gevora Hotel, all adding a layer of glamour and grit to Dubai’s skyline game.

Coming Soon, Even Taller, Shinier, and Pricier
Cue the drumroll, because Burj Azizi is coming. Slated to hit 725 metres, this beast will have the world’s highest observation deck (level 130), the highest nightclub (level 126), the highest restaurant (level 122), and yes, the highest hotel room (level 118). If it’s high, it’s happening in this tower. Price tag? A cool USD 1.5 billion. ETA? 2028. Then there’s the ridiculously luxe Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co Residences in Business Bay. The tower will hit 595 metres, feature residences with butlers, chauffeurs, chefs, and bodyguards. Let’s not forget Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina, slated for 517 metres, with 251 wellness-forward homes dripping in mindful luxury. Completion? July 2028.
So next time you visit UAE, get ready to be lost in the scenic views of this amazing skyline.
