After Gujarat, A Lion Safari Experience Might Come Up In North Bengal Soon

If you were fascinated by the movie The Lion King, you might soon witness the chronicle come alive in front of your eyes in North Bengal. The state is planning to launch a lion safari experience for wildlife enthusiasts through its dense jungles, as notified by West Bengal Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallick.

India has many states that offer tiger safari. But not many places except Gujarat offer lion safaris. The Gir National Park in Gujarat is home to the world’s largest population of Asiatic lions. And soon, another lion safari park might come up in North Bengal too. Siliguri’s North Bengal Wild Animals Park had introduced tiger safari in 2016 with nearly 11 majestic tigers. Now, North Bengal is gearing up to launch its first-ever lion safari.

It plans to commence the safari with two pairs of lions and lionesses. A 20-seater minibus will take tourists across the forest. The state is planning to approach the Central Zoo Authority to seek permission on the same. The state is also planning to set up a breeding and conservation centre for tigers inside the park.
