After ₹820 Popcorn-Pepsi Tweet, PVR Now Has Samosas-Burgers For ₹99 And More Popcorn Offers

It is not unusual to enter a theatre and anticipate enjoying popcorn with Pepsi while watching a movie, or perhaps indulge in a hot samosa or crispy burger. Unfortunately, the high food prices typically found in cinema halls often deter us from truly enjoying these treats. However, the experience of one man in Noida at PVR Cinemas has now revolutionised the game for many other moviegoers.

PVR Introduces Discounted Prices After Viral Tweet

Many moviegoers express dissatisfaction with the high prices of food and drinks at multiplex chains. This hampers their overall experience of having a pocket-friendly experience. Dealing with the same, a journalist recently took to Twitter to complain about the steep cost of cheese popcorn and Pepsi at PVR Cinemas in Noida, and the tweet quickly gained widespread attention.

But, in a positive turn of events for movie lovers, PVR Cinemas responded to the man’s tweet and reduced the prices of food items and beverages. The tweet, posted by Tridip K Mandal on July 2, showcased his purchase of cheese popcorn and Pepsi for 820.

In his tweet, Mandal explained how the prices of the food items were almost if not equal to the prices of purchasing a subscription to the streaming service, Prime Video on Amazon Prime. He also said that the whole experience of watching a movie with your family has hence become unaffordable.

The tweet gained immense popularity, garnering 2.6 million views. PVR Cinemas responded to the tweet on July 12, sharing details about their revised prices. As part of their weekend offer, they now provide unlimited popcorn and complimentary refills of Pepsi. Additionally, on weekdays (Monday to Thursday) between 9 am and 6 pm, they offer a selection of items including burgers, samosas, sandwiches, and Pepsi, all for just ₹99.

And thanks to Mandal, now moviegoers everywhere can enjoy the experience of watching a film without worrying about their snacking situation. The high prices in movie theatres have forced many people to either sit hungry throughout the movie or sneak in their own food.
