Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kanpur Metro Rail Project and became the first passenger to avail of the service. He boarded the train at IIT Kanpur metro station and was accompanied by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Kanpur Metro Rail Project comprises two corridors — the first corridor from IIT-Kanpur to Naubasta and the second corridor from Chandrashekar Azad Agriculture University to Barra-8. The daily metro services will be available from 6 am to 10. While commuters should use QR Codes as tickets, smart cards will be introduced later.

Metro Rail To Connect Tourist Hotspots With Railway Stations & Markets
The metro rail project in Agra will have two corridors with a total length of 29.4 kilometres. The rail will connect the major tourist hotspots like Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Sikandra to railway stations, bus stands and markets. The Project Is Estimated To Complete In 5 Years
This metro will be an environment-friendly Mass Rapid Transit System, that will bear an estimated cost of 8,379.62 crores. The project will is estimated to complete in five years. This Metro Rail System will also promote Transit-Orientedpment, which will automatically lead to the development of the residential and commercial complexes.
